We had our first quarterly prayer event of the year. We joined with JH/SH students in the sanctuary for a great time of worship. The Elementary students prayed in the Spirit for 5 solid minutes over the JH/SH students then the older ones prayed for another 5 minutes for the younger ones.
Then we raised an “all-school” shout to the Lord as an act of worship, declaring His supremacy, sovereignty and perfect will over any and every obstacle we might face.
Following our time of worship the Elementary students took turns to visit some of our 26 interactive adoration prayer stations, where they prayed about and thanked Jesus for some of His many names and facets of His character. For example:

  • At the “Quieting” station, we read Zech 3:17 The LORD your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you withHis love, He will rejoice over you with singing.” The children were able to lay down on a pillow and just rest in the presence of the Lord, letting Him quiet them with His love. They then put a sticker on the prayer board and signed their name.
  • At the “Awesome” station, the children were simply asked to sing, the following song, before they wrote “God, you are Awesome” onto a note and stuck it onto the poster.

Our God is an awesome God

    He reigns from heaven above

    With wisdom, power and love

Our God is an awesome God

  • At the “Holy” station, the children were simply asked to join with all of Heaven and declare, “Holy, holy, holy Lord God Almighty”. Then they wrote the word HOLY onto the poster.
  • At the “Creator” station, the children were simply asked to draw a picture of something God has created and that they love. They then prayed, thanking God, our Creator for making it. Finally they glued their picture onto the poster.

There were a few moments today when the presence of the Holy Spirit was tangible; at one point a gentle silence fell especially upon the Gr 4 & 5 students. They were amazing as they gave themselves to prayer. Thank you to all teachers and teacher assistants who so lovingly helped the younger students engage with the Lord.
