What are Parent Assistants? 

In order to have your students be a part of TDA, we require one (or both) of the parents to serve at school for 4 hours per week (2 hours for single parents) in a slotted time that you choose. This part of our school is vital, both for the parental help which ensures that TDA functions in an optimal way, but also for our parents to know their student’s teachers, subjects, and friends. 

Parent Assistant Responsibilities 

1. The Parent Assistant is a key component in keeping our school functioning well. We will try our best to give you the desired weekly slot that you request. We will place all our parent assistants in areas of need around the school. 

2. Some jobs could include helping in a class with grading papers, working with smaller groups of students, taking attendance, recording scores, etc. 

3. Parent Assistants will also need to help supervise students before and after school and during breaks and lunch. Please remember that during those times that the parents are in charge! We need close supervision to oversee our students. 

4. Parent Assistants may do some cleaning and picking up jobs as well. We have tried to keep our costs as low as possible and thus let our parents and students help out instead. We don’t have a cleaning company that cleans for us, so we need to do our own cleaning. 

5. If a parent is not needed in a classroom or for admin work on a certain day, we ask them to take the list of families and teachers (available by the admin area) and pray through them. Feel free to walk though the building and pray as well. 

Parent Assistant Sign-Up for Slot 

1. Once a family is accepted to TDA, they can preference several time slots that you would like. 

2. We will do our very best to accommodate your preferences, although we cannot promise that. 

Pre-K Available for Families Serving in Their Slot 

1. We have nursery and pre-k available Monday, Wednesday and Friday MORNINGS for a small fee. If you want to bring any babies or pre-k children with you, make sure to sign up for one of these times. There is a small charge for snacks and supplies.
